A hidden gem (<1000 views) video on mapping user mindsets from product discovery to continued usage. Most product orgs โpushโ (via clever marketing) users down the funnel to โmove activation metricsโ. Instead, they should consider purposefully adding friction to the funnel to let users โpullโ themselves down. This is one way to test that youโre actually solving your userโs most painful blockers. Pushing wonโt tell you if the blockers get solved but it makes the numbers look good. Self-pulling reveals whether youโve solved the most painful blockers and moved the โmetrics that matterโ. Great video on dissecting a nuance that doesnโt get enough attention.

Love the idea of constrained vs. unconstrained domains by Matt Lerner. TLDR; constrained = regulation/rules (like app stores or fintech). Unconstrained = wide open/no rules (writing or startups). In the former, winners optimize 100 things to eek out the win. In the latter, winners double down on 1-2 things and create as much leverage as possible. Read the article and apply the principle to your career. HintโฆPM is unconstrained. So what 2 skills will you leverage to be different/marketable/unique?

You can have the greatest product in the world but that wonโt matter if no one knows about it.
A few weeks back I shared a BYOP tool you can use to discover trending internet topics called explodingtopics.com. Well, the man behind it - Brian Dean - has amassed 65k newsletter subscribers in short order. He also has 2 other newsletters w/ 100k+ subs. Somethingโs workingโฆ He wrote a post about how he does it. Even if youโll never start a newsletter, there are some interesting lessons about how to attract users/customers from scratch.
